She's back!

After nearly nine months we finally have the Robert Charles Brown back and it looks like she is here to stay. There are still some slipway trials to be completed but for the time being at least she is comfortably ensconced in her rightful place in the boathouse. Tomorrow we exercise at 9.30 and it will be my first trip down the slipway in her, fingers crossed that all works out well! During tomorrow's exercise we are working with some kayaking friends who will be giving crewmembers an insight into a different sort of craft. My idea is that there may be value in exercising with a particular sort of craft and learning how to deal with the unique problems which they present. In a funny sort of way it will mark a collision of two of my worlds...........

The new banner is superb, the photo really looks great.

Is it worth putting the title in bold, though?

I'm really interested to hear what becomes of your exercise involving kayakers. As a paddler, I learned last summer first hand just how "invisible" we really are in big water while enjoying a weekend on a cabin cruiser in Lake Superior's Apostle Islands. I was to be on lookout for paddlers (a popular destination for them also) from the bow and was amazed at how quickly they "appeared" from seemingly nowhere. It changed my perspective that motor boaters hate us and refuse to see us. It's probably that they don't. (I think some will always refer to us as those "damn kayakers".) And now...I'm one of the motor boaters too.

It's done Mark, what do you think now? Liz didn't like the Wordpress version, not sure why, I'll play some more and see what I feel then.

Megan, We plan to do a bit of that tomorrow and also a bit of trying to spot kyaks by radar.......could be interesting!

Sorry to say that you're stuck with Pinky for now. Our boat has an exhaust leak and is currently missing a rather important piece of pipework! It was supposed to be sorted on Friday but we all know that if you start a job on a Friday it will always go wrong and you'll end up worse off than you were before you started! Have a nice exercise, I may watch from my bed via the webcam :o) DT

Hi John, I was going to ask you about the RCB the other day, but forgot. A timely update then.....

Love the banner, it is really good. Well done. Look forward to hearing how the exercise goes.
