X Boat
There are some places that even a small Mersey class lifeboat can't get. Kimmeridge ledges at low tide is one of them! In situations like this we carry a very small Avon inflatable which we can use to transfer men, get casualties and ferry equipement. For some odd reason Ron Woolford (ALB crewman) seems to enjoy paddling this; he can be seen here heading to the casualty which has unfortunately run onto the ledge in a moment of optimism. All turned out well. We returned a few hours later to retrieve the vessel which we had earlier anchored. Needless to say, the owner was most thankful.
