At the end of their service life, lifeboats are sold, often to other rescue organisations around the world, and sometimes on the open market here in Britain. The J Reginald Corah, Swanage's last lifeboat was sold out of service in 1993 after launching on service 410 times and saving 240 lives. She is presently owned by Roger Pardy-Bryan and maintained supremely in near original condition. Each year for his summer holidays Roger brings the J Reginald Corah back to Swanage during our lifeboat week and runs trips around the bay for visitors. In doing this he raises vast sums of money for the station.
Roger is without doubt one of lifes consumate gentlemen. He does all this and asks for nothing in return other than a steady supply of fine coffee. A good man.........
