Big brother.......

Allegedly 20% of the worlds CCTV cameras can be found in Britain. That is nearly 1/2 A million and increasing by about 15% every year. Supposedly each person in our democracy is captured by cameras something like 300 times a day. Indeed, seldom can one be more that a few hundred metres from a camera at any one time. It's not surprising then that we as a lifeboat are frequently captured on camera without us knowing. Not, obviously on CCTV cameras (although there are 2 on the cliffs on our patch), but by members of the public who are watching our shouts and exercises. Every now and then we get sent one of these photos and some are very good. The latest offering from a Mr Jol Mitchell is superb. It shows RCB en-route to rescue a craft off St aldhelm's Head on the 18th of June. The only problem is that Blogger is misbehaving and wont allow me to post it just now! I'll keep trying..............watch this space.

It's amazing isn't it, you often don't realise. Camera phones are often the worst. We had an incident at work (ambulance service) not so long back where someone was insisting on filming while we treated a chap, despite us several times telling him where to go. Fortunately the police were also attending the job and he soon got the message. I'm still sure if you went to youtube and searched for "angry paramedic" you'd probably find us!

Jon, having left an an anonymous message and seeing your reply, I hadn't realised how fitting it was to your 'Big Brother....' blog! Sorry to scare you.

As a family (I have 3 boys) we very much enjoy your blog and seeing the photos of the lifeboat in action! Hence you were recognised. Hope you enjoyed your evening off!

Thoroughly enjoyed it Will, no idea what prompted me to get up on stage........not the sort of thing I normally do! However, it was certainly very cool to be up there and has made many of my friends very jealous!

Glad you like the blog....
