I have a question for you

So there you are. You've just bought the boat of your dreams. You know little about her apart from she is filthy, things keep falling off and she is held together in lots of places by gaffer tape. Do you a) Spend many hours fixing her up and learning her foibles or b) Climb aboard and set off on passage from Weymouth to Essex?Choose option a) and there is a fair chance that things will work out OK. Choose option b) and there is a fair chance that things will work out like this!

Yeah-- but option B produces a much better story....

"Dirty Tomcat" hehehe.

See... it's events like this that make me think "maybe the French are onto something by charging for rescues".

Quite right MK......and gets me out of my other responsibilities!!

You may be right Dan, however, I feel strongly that by charging for rescues, some people would not call for help until too late or until the rescue would be much harder for us to achieve. I have no wish to be in dangerous situations and would rather tow someone from 100yds off the beach than when on the rocks.

Furthermore, I feel that charging would lead to compulsory registration of boats, mandatory training and liscensing etc etc. I for one don't want this.

Nevertheless, I'm sure it works for the French!

Since when has it been the role of the RNLI to interfere with Darwinian natural selection?

I do like the way you've described the service you went on this morning, made me chuckle :-)

You don't look quite so happy in the pics though....

Looking forward to lifeboat week in August.
