- Born in the North of England and a Yorkshire man to the bones (like a Scotsman but with the streak of generosity removed). A sailor at heart with a passion for my family, the ocean, watersports, mountains and making journeys under my own steam. Previously a Submariner and a crewman on the Swanage Lifeboat, I now spend my time as the Head teacher of Craigclowan Prep School, a vibrant and exciting shool in Perthshire, Scotland.

Any costs involved have been met by myself in their entirety, no RNLI funds have been spent on this, not even a little. Most importantly, this blog never intends to be in anyway critical or judgemental of those people we rescue. Accidents happen.............

Was in Studland yesterday and apart from HMS Montrose, a C17, and the SBS dropping boats and themselves into the water there were 2 RNLI hovercraft, do you know anything about them?
Yeah, it was busy wasn't it. Not sure what the hovercraft were up to...perhaps crew training or trials? I was out kayak fishing in the bay, at times it felt like the C17 was going to fall out of the sky it was so slow!
Hmm - SBS etc. and the last post got me thinking about a couple of clips I came across. Do you think RNLI HQ would be Ok with this and a D Class?

It would certainly save all that tedious mucking about with winches to get casualties aboard.
